Basic Computer Skills Classes for Senior Immigrants

Welcome to Accent Network’s Basic Computer Skills Classes, specially tailored for senior immigrants.

Through a combination of short video tutorials and free in-person classes, we guide you through the fundamentals, starting from the basics, such as using a mouse and teaching you proper ergonomics to avoid eye or neck strain. We then progressed to more advanced skills, including an in-depth understanding of the desktop environment and how to utilize Microsoft Office programs like Excel, Access, and Outlook effectively.

Environmental Education Program for immigrants and refugees:

Immigrants’ environmental learning is directly related to their perceived connections to the local community and environment. Environmental care is inherently a North American value.

Our Culturally Relevant Environmental Education Program focuses on helping immigrants become socialized to new norms. Our environment work will focus on raising newcomer’s awareness of climate change by providing opportunities to learn about it and what actions to take.

Environmental Education Program engages immigrants through Events, Public Programs, Art Exhibits, and Community Partnerships with non-formal environmental education programs.

Environmental Volunteers’ Nature Walks program is designed to help immigrants get to know our local city parks and open space areas. We offer interpretive hikes led by local experts on topics such as local birds, wildflowers, and trees on the trails..

Community Development Program :

Community Development Program is dedicated to creating an actual community resource center that advocates for immigrants by promoting integration and self-sufficiency and delivering the needed services, which helps navigate the health system, social services, and legal system to survive and thrive.

We work to ensure that immigrants and refugees have a voice in local decision-making processes that affect their lives. This involve providing translation services, organizing community meetings, and building relationships with local government officials to ensure that the needs and concerns of migrants and refugees are being heard.

We help to foster social connections among migrants and refugees and the wider community. This involve organizing social events, cultural festivals, and community service projects that bring people from different backgrounds together and promote understanding and mutual respect.
